The weather wasn't too bad today. It's been raining everyday! Finally some sun. Perfect for some natural lighting photo shoot with my friend Cang. He's been a great friend since High School. He used to be my protégé!! But, now we can no longer associate that word with Cang. CANG is a Parsons- Fashion -Business- Art Gallery Lover- Person. I think we can confidently say that our style has transformed tremendously, grâce à New York City! So who is Mr. Cang Nguyen? Let's find out more...

Cat: Hey Cang, thanks for meeting up with me today at Propaganda Cafe!

Cang: Well, thank YOU for having me here

C: Describe yourself in 3 words?

Cang: Fine Arts Enthusiast, simply because I love everything that is visually satisfying, and that includes fashion, of course

C: What is your "must-have" thing before you leave the house?

Cang: Besides my wallet and phone; definitely my Daniel Wellington watch, and multiple bracelets that I carrying with me for the past 3 years.

C: Do you think the saying "beauty is pain" is true?

Cang: After living in New York City and indulging its diverse culture and fashionable people for a while, I’ll say YES. Sometimes you just have to endure pain in order to express your beauty, mentally and physically, whether you like it or not.

C: What does dressing preppy mean to you?

Cang: Preppy for me is just one of my many style that I choose to wear. I didn’t notice that I was wearing preppy clothes until I did my own research on Google. Thanks to some menswear blogs in Tumblr, I now have a fundamental knowledge about the Prep culture.

C: Its rare to find Vietnamese men that enjoy preppy. Do you think preppy has potential in Saigon?

Cang: It will come back to Vietnam eventually, but not now. As long as consumers would continue to prefer the likes of Gucci, Versace and Prada, they will always drown into the trends, and losing their own identity in the process. The only way that would bring Preppy back here is when the big brands are doing the Prep approaches or celebrities here in VN decided to embrace the Prep culture.

C: Tell us more about your hobbies!

Cang: I like to sing a lot (like….. a lot), reading art books and just going to café with friends and family; it’s good to have people around to talk to, you know, they don’t have to agree with you, but at least they listen, and it’s nice like that.
